The ‘hetero-friendly’ Axel Hotel is the most luxurious ‘gay’ hotel in Barcelona. This recently renovated hotel offers 105 chic, modern Mediterranean-styled rooms and a new wine bar.

The popular rooftop ‘Sky Bar’ is a destination in its own right, and the Wellness Club 33 offers 500 sqm of fabulous water zones, spa treatments, massages and personal fitness training.

The Axel is just a short walk from the gay bars and clubs in Eixample and is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the historic center of Barcelona.  A fabulous choice for gay travellers, although expect to pay a premium price when compared with similar quality hotels in the area.

AKO Premium Suites Hotel is located in the heart of the Eixample gay village, just a few steps from many of the best bars.  The AKO offers 28 fabulously stylish apartments that each has a double bed plus a double sofa bed enabling up to four to share.

These smart, minimalist-designed, air-conditioned 45 square meter apartments have a lounge area with a flat screen TV and a fully equipped kitchenette (tea/coffee maker, fridge, microwave, kettle, etc).  There is a daily cleaning service and free WiFi.  Completely gay-friendly service and popular choice.  Recommended.

NH Calderon ****

NH Calderón is located in the centre of Barcelona, next to Plaza de Catalunya and close to the Eixample gay area.  The hotel is popular with gay travellers all year around and earned its gay credentials as being host hotel for the Barcelona Circuit Festival.  The hotel features a swimming pool, sun terrace and small gym.

Soho Hotel ***

The stylish Soho Hotel features 51 contemporary-styled guest rooms. The rooms are relatively compact (like most hotels in Barcelona) but feature comfortable beds, air conditioning, LCD TV’s and free WiFi. There is a rooftop swimming pool and sun terrace.

The hotel is located on Gran Via, about 10 minutes’ walk from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla – a good base to explore the city as well as being very close the gay bars and clubs in Eixample.

The Soho offers a pretty good breakfast buffet that includes fresh fruit and juices, pastries, breads, eggs, sausages, etc.  A great value for money option.  Helpful and friendly front desk.

EMMA Barcelona ***

EMMA Barcelona is a very futuristic-designed hotel that offers a fabulous visual experience, attention to detail and surprisingly affordable.

Each modern, comfortable guest room features a flat screen TV, satellite channels, free WiFi, a minibar and safe. Interior rooms don’t have any windows.  If you spend a bit more, then a suite offers more space and a private terrace. Breakfast is served until midday.

Location-wise, EMMA is a 10-minute walk to the gay venues in Eixample and the city center. Good value for money option.

Hostal Barcelona Centro **

Excellent value-for-money hostel in the centre of L’Eixample, next block from Nova Bruc gay sauna and a 5-minute walk from Passeig de Gràcia and Catalunya train stations.  The soundproof rooms at Hostal Barcelona Centro have free WiFi, wooden floors, air conditioning, flat screen TV and either private or shared bathroom.  There is a 24-hour reception as well as a concierge, vending machine and laundry facilities.
Many cafés, bars & restaurants are nearby.  Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gràcia are just two metro stops away.

Hostal Q Barcelona **

Affordable and cool. Hostal Q Barcelona offers modern and comfortable rooms with free WiFi, flat screen TV, air conditioning and private bathroom.  There is a communal area where guests can use the laptops and enjoy free refreshments.  The service is professional and friendly.
The Q hostel is in a great central location in Eixample, within walking distance from Plaça de Catalunya and Las Ramblas.  A range of restaurants and cafés can be found nearby.  Urquinaona metro station provides easy access to other parts of the city.

Casa Camper Hotel Barcelona ****

Casa Camper hotel is located in the Raval district, full of art galleries, restaurants and just a two-minute walk from Plaza Cataluña.  The Eixample gay district is a five-minute walk (although Corinto Sauna is just around the corner).

The Gothic, 19th-century exterior of Casa Camper hides one of our favourite boutique hotels in the city. The guest-rooms have a minimalist style but are very comfortable.  Each ‘room’ has two areas (a bedroom and lounge) separated by a corridor. Features include two LCD TV’s, a laptop-sized safe, a hammock, iPod dock and free WiFi.

Most rates include a full breakfast buffet and as many snacks as you like during the day (sandwiches, soup, pastries, bakery, soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea).  Nice touch.  Great location, excellent service and utterly cool!

Hotel Jazz ***

Another favourite!  Hotel Jazz is a stylish, great value for money hotel in an excellent location close to Eixample gay district and the city centre.  Plaza Catalunya is just around the corner, and it is less than 2 minutes’ walk to La Rambla.

The hotel offers a choice of modern air-conditioned en-suite rooms and suites.  Features include a laptop-sized safe, LCD TV with satellite channels, free WiFi, and a minibar.  We particularly like the fabulous rooftop swimming pool, sun terrace and bar offering wonderful views across the city.

A brand new, design hotel located just 50 metres from Plaza Catalunya, 10 minutes’ walk from the gay village and just a few steps from three of Barcelona’s best gay saunas (Nova Bruc / Cordal / Corinto).

The hotel offers chic, contemporary accommodation from 18m²  rooms through to a stunning 40m² suite that has a private terrace and jacuzzi.  Every room has a king-sized or twin beds, a modern bathroom, free WiFi, iPod dock, LCD TV and mini-bar.  Breakfast is available until noon.

Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia are just a couple of minutes’ walk.  Urquinaona Metro station is 150 metres away – 2 stops from Barceloneta and its beach.

Hotel Curious has modern, stylish air-conditioned en suite rooms, all of which feature free WiFi and satellite LCD TV.  Friendly service, a good breakfast and very cheap!

Neri Hotel ****

Everything about Neri oozes history, culture and glamour. The hotel is comprised of two buildings, one of which was a Medieval palace.  During renovations, archaeologists found a Roman site underneath the hotel and ceramics that are now part of Spanish national heritage.

The Neri offers 22 beautiful air-conditioned guest rooms that combine the new and the old with style and substance. There is free WiFi, LCD TV’s and an extensive bed linen and pillow menu.

The Neri Restaurant, headed up by Chef Benito Iranzo delivers some of the best flavours in the city (gourmet gays should consider a reservation even if not staying at the hotel).

Located in the Gothic quarter, Plaza Cataluna is about a ten-minute walk and the gay village in Eixample about a 15-minute walk.

Located about a 15-minute from the main gay area, although venues such as The Black Room and Nova Bruc Sauna are even closer.
