Sitges coastline has been a magnet for gay sun worshippers for decades – and it is hardly surprising as the town has nine beautiful beaches. The gay crowd tends to focus around three of these beaches. Sun loungers and shades are available for rental on all the beaches.

In reality, you will find gay sun bathers on every beach along Sitges promenade. However, Playa de la Bassa is the most popular beach for gay sun worshippers. It’s very easy to find – if only because it is usually full of buff-looking men! From the town, walk along the promenade to the third beach zone.

Despite being a good 45-minute walk from town, Sitges nudist beach is surprisingly a popular choice. This may be partly due to the wooded area behind the beach (on the other side of the railway line) that can be as busy as the beach itself! To get to Playa del Muerto, walk (or take a taxi) to Club Atlantida. Continue along the coastal path past the straight nudist beach, after which you will come to the gay nudist beach. Be very aware that some sections of the path run very close to the railway line and you proceed at your own risk!
This beach is mostly pebbles, so taking an inflatable airbed is recommended. Alternatively, a limited number of sun loungers and shades are available for hire, and there is a small bar serving (relatively expensive) drinks – so it’s a good idea to pack what you think you will need for the day.

One of the oldest gay venues in Sitges, El Horno (“The Oven” in English) opens early to offer a quiet retreat for a drink after the beach. This taverna-style bar is also well-known for its dark room at the rear of the bar and its eclectic choice of music which ranges from 90′s disco classics to pop, rock and electronic beats. As the headquarters of the Bears Sitges Club, El Horno is one of the main venues for ‘Bears Weeks’ held annually in April/May and September.

Man Bar is for those who want to play a bit harder. The industrial styling with chains, metal bars and discreet lighting create a dark and cruisy atmosphere. L’Atlantida is well-known as a venue that held some of the very best Circuit Festival parties. This huge open-air venue is right next to the sea, offering a fabulous party experience. L’Atlantida is a 30-minute walk from Sitges town center. In previous years, the organisers have thoughtfully provided a free busy from outside Hotel Calipolis (just behind the main gay beach area).
