La Champmesle is considered to be the *first* lesbian bar in Paris. It's been open since 1979.

The bar was opened by Josy and she's still in attendance. There are regular art exhibitions, cabaret shows and tarot card readings on Tuesdays.

Although it's a lesbian bar, men and people of indeterminate gender are welcome.

The worst thing for the lesbian community since Ellen

I was terribly disappointed with this place. I have traveled gay around the world, and have never had an experience as bad as this bar. the bartender was really rude, charged ten euros for my friend and i to use the bathroom, and mocked my friend and I for not being fluent in french. Leaving this review makes me sad because I am always one to stand by lesbian bars because there are so few worldwide. That being said, i wish this bar was among those that ended up getting shut down. If you are a young, queer person, this is not a welcoming environment. If you are a tourist, get ready to be scammed and made fun of.

Rude and Mean

The bar was empty, and the owner took advantage of me and friend's lack of french knowledge by yelling at us for using the restroom, making us pay before we were even able to buy a drink, and mocking us in french to her friend in front of us. Would've hoped the first lesbian bar would be more open to young queer people.

A la CHAMPMESLEE

A place that I have known for many years, superb, atypical and very friendly. I recommend it to everyone.
