Watchdog

Running any business that involves client interaction requires essential good communication skills to produce positive customer satisfaction. Sadly one of the owners S should take a course. Also the establishment is advertised as closing at 18.00...not the case..usually clients are told to leave at 17.30. The actual facilities are decent enough, and of course that depends when available, Ie. the top lounge. I have been here quite a few times, and after an incident recently will not return. PITY...

Meh

Was there for the first time last weekend and at reception was told by a strangely snappy guy that certain cubicles were reserved for straight people (they run straight nights which seem more lucrative). Then handed a camping towel (the ones that don't wick off moisture but help you wipe it off - they turn ghastly once you've sat or lain on one in the sauna) - the only one included in the entry fee. Every additional one is 50p. The facilities are decent and clean, including a small sauna (holding maybe five), steam room and jacuzzi, plus various cruising spaces (sling, cinema, dark room, off-limits space reserved for straight folk), and of course a lounge with sofas and a TV set. The crowd was of mixed ages, leaning towards the older generation, which is fine with me. Quite a few were overweight and had beards, but I am not sure if it wasn't perhaps a bear event. On the whole, it seemed to me that the overall ambition of management was to provide a place that is adequate, and no more, and perhaps to charge where possible (only bottled water available, only one free (unusable) towel). Given that they are one of very few gay saunas in the region, they are perfectly able to run their business on that basis, however I will certainly not be running back. At the same time, it's not a complete thumbs down either: a 2.5 out of 5 kind of place.

Shame

These facilities are always dependent upon clientele the day I went there were hardly any other guys there, 4 I think, the facility is big therefore when there are so few people you may not bump into another soul. £15 seems quite expensive!
