Though SaunApolo bills itself as a hetero-friendly swingers venue, the place mainly attracts a gay and bisexual crowd. And it is not unusual to see people who are only here to observe at the towel-optional venue.
Prices can vary, and there is a calendar of events – check their website if you plan to visit. Metro: Marquês de Pombal, Avenida, Anjos

Local gay sauna near Avenida da Liberdade with dry sauna, steam room, cabins and cruising area. The place is rather dated but gets a bit busy in the late afternoon and is popular with friendly mature guys and bears.
The sauna is rather difficult to find. Luckily, a very helpful user has provided us with detailed instructions:
Rua Telhal, nº4B. nº4 has four doorways – A, B, C and D. It’s in an old part of Lisbon and things are not clearly identified in these streets. Three of four doorways look alike (A, B and D) and it’s hard to tell them apart as they are not clearly marked. B has a tiny “B” next to 4, A has nothing, D has apartments for sale and rent and C is an old music record shop.
Sauna Virato is at 4ºB and has 2 potted shrubs on each side of the door, a doorbell on the right hand side and a small paper with the sauna name on the inside of the door, but the glass is not perfectly transparent, making it hard to read. See our gallery for a pic of the door (the two doors either side are fake).
The way Rua Telhal crosses Rua das Pretas often causes GPS apps not list the street at all, and only list Rua das Pretas. Metro: Avenida
