Manchester Mardi Gras 2013 goes on for ten days, but it’s the long bank holiday weekend that attracts the crowds. The gay area around Canal Street (the heart of Manchester’s gay village) is cordoned off, and the party is a ticketed event. These world-famous celebrations begin with Pride Fringe followed by the “Big Weekend”, including the parade and culminating with a HIV candlelight vigil.
The Big Weekend is literally teaming with an international crowd. Every bar and club is open late into the night, and there are hundreds of acts on the main stage to keep you entertained.
