Historic gay bar that attracts a more mature crowd – although all are very welcome. On the ground floor, the Quebec is one of the most friendly pubs in London.

Downstairs, in the basement bar, the atmosphere is slightly more edgy and cruisy, with a different DJ each night playing their own mix of classic and contemporary tunes.

Regular entertainment (karaoke and drag queen cabaret performances) and special events. No door fee, and late license means that customers can enjoy an affordable late-night out. Free WiFi.

Nearest Underground: Marble Arch (Central Line)

  1. Aggressive manager

“Terribly aggressive manager, bad mannered mainly with older people. Loud musique that unable to communicate with barmans in a polite a proper way in order to buy drinks. It is not recommended.”

  2. New management.

“I go to the City of Quebec every few months or so. Manager and staff were not bad and generally welcoming and the nights were enjoyable. My last visit though was different. The new manager was targeting the older regulars and had a couple ejected for no observable reason. Don’t know if she is wanting to turn it into a lesbian venue? Certainly got some agenda.”

  3. Gerontophilia (re: Jack's review)

“There’s no point for rentboys or hustlers being here in search of business. The place is aka ‘Elephant’s Graveyard’ (google it) due to the older customers enjoying the company of young gerontophiles who are simply into old men. There’s no transaction involved. And it has been the same for many decades, I think the pub is like 200 years old. And therefore, the youngsters you have seen are either rentboys who will not come back, or the usual young crowd with no need to be monitored by the staff.”

  4. “Bar staff appear to treat younger visitors as potential rent boys and follows them into toilets in suspicion of action. Meanwhile older blokes relieve each other at the urinals, which is perfectly fine by the same staff. Not younger friendly.”
