Historic Turkish bath with that was opened in 1485. Davutpasa claims to be the oldest hammam in Istanbul. The place was refurbished in 2013 and has since adopted a gay-friendly policy.

Located in Samatya district – not very central, but the fact that it is gay-friendly has made it more popular. The hammam is clean and well-run with private rooms.

  1. Great experience off tourist area

“Outside of tourist area (as mentioned above like 10min walk from Yenikapi) - Not much English spoken - this on the negative side.

Entrance 40TL (included private cabin you can lock and use in case you meet someone, lol). I had foam bath, soap bath (or whatever its called) and oil massage for 60TL. It was very very good (nothing sexual). Although the masseur offered his other services for extra charge).

Can buy drinks/tea/coffee there. They provide towel, slippers.

When I was there, mostly around 45- 50 years old age group present.

Nice 2 areas for Turkish bath, sauna, centre siting area to rest (and watch others and start convo). Shower is basic - bring your shower gel and stuff.“

  3. Oh Really?

“I was told from my hotel reception to never go in Davutpasa, because it is a gay hammam - Oh, really!

So after a 2 min with marmaray and a 10 min walk I was there. Not very full around 17.00 (3-4 people), but still I had great time. They give you a private room to change your cloths and to use it for pleasure. There is a resting area in front of the cabins (not the entrance area where cabins 1-2-3 are). Old hammam but great bath service (ask to have it after 10-15 min after entrance, so your skin can get wet enough ). Can't wait to go there again.“

  4. Nice Experience!

“First of all, you are in Istanbul, that's why you have to forget all the European style saunas. I would say that this Hamam is the most decent one. Not that much clean but amazing people, very good massage and very cozy area. Don't expect from turkish to show you that they are interested. You have to do the first step and if it works you ll spend some amazing time!“

  5. Horrible place stay away

“Really bad service, they basically make you wait while they have food in the main room. Yes inside the bath house...not hygienic at all, empty. I waited 40 minutes for the soap massage the guy was eating and didn't come. Basically you pay 40 LT to go in that's all. You leave with a shower and that's it. I went there to relax and left more stressed.“

  6. gay friendly hamman

“I was there on Friday, one day before I left. Very easy to find and not far away from Yenikapi metro station (Green line M2). Entrance fees 15L , private room 15L, oil massage 40L , form bath 15L. More mature men than young guys. Clean and gay friendly. Easy to hook up. Only action in private room. Will strongly recommend and will go again if I travel to Istanbul next time.“

  7. I definitely

“I can only recommend this hammam. It gets busy late afternoon (was there on a Thursday). There is a section where you won't be disturbed too. You can check prices/rates and decide if you want a scrub, massage etc.
Clean, well-managed. Definitely a must if you want to try the male "hammam" exprience,

  8. Hot guys but watch the charges

“Just be careful of how the charges add up when you visit. We were put into one room to share, but were charged as though we had used 2 rooms. Double the prices charged compared to the Hammam we visited in Konya. No reductions made for the fact that the Sauna had died a few days earlier.“

  9. Friendly and relaxed

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Seemed quite busy ... especially the relaxing room and the with nice hot rooms behind were a bit crowded with nice people. Clean and very light, newer interior. Did not have a massage or a rub down, but definitely will try on my next visit.“
