Eldorado has had a long history with several establishments claiming the name in and around Berlin, but the most famous incarnation was at the corner of Motzstraße from 1926 to 1933.
It featured regular performances by the likes of Marlene Dietrich and Claire Waldoff and was widely known to be a regular venue for transvestites and transsexuals. Later, the place was closed down and taken over by the Nazis and used as a local headquarter.
In 1996, a new venue at Motzstraße 20 opened under the name Eldorado Music Bar which is now a popular hangout bar in the gay area of Schöneberg.
