Saunabar is well-known for its professionally qualified masseurs. There are usually at least 2 or 3 masseurs on duty, offering a range of back, shoulder, sports and Swedish massage therapies.

Although the address is clearly visible (see our picture), there is no sign on the entrance. Just follow the steps down to the door to reception.

  1. An oasis in a very busy populated area.

“Since I came to the Portsea Sauna I have found such good service from very friendly men. The masseurs have excellent and will their best to make you feel at home. They are from many places and it has been delightful to meet them. I have also meet some lovely people in the sauna. Of course it depends when you go but the massage is very reasonable so I find ican be sure if the welcome I will receive. It is just right for me. There are refreshments too some complementary. The service was good and it was clean.“

  2. Great location, full stop.

“Sadly, I went there last year, after many years away. It had not improved and the steam room was just a damp room, hardly ever steaming 5 minutes, every 15 minutes. Useless to complain or request a better system to replace the present one. Staff are always great & polite, despite the management.“

  4. Surprisingly nice place

“After reading some reviews on here decided to pay a visit to Portsea . It is rather like a nice cozy spa, great massage therapists, good value for money, attracts mainly professional city gents, so I guess it's not suitable for every bodies demand !!! Compare to some other places that I have visited its relatively clean and quiet environment. Friendly and polite management and staff too, please don't write negetive reviews as this place needs more positive support, also they provide free hot drinks and loyalty card available too, location wise it's just perfect few minutes walk from Marble Arch station.

Hope this review will be helpful.“

  5. Don't go!!

“This is the smallest sauna in the world. It's incredible places like this sauna still exists in these days in a town like London. I went in the morning, it was a clean place. I wanted to leave five minutes after entering. There is nothing there. Just two aisles forming a 'L', with only a small dry sauna (for 4 people), the steam sauna is better but like a narrow room. For me it was a waste of time and money. I can't believe I went to this place in London.“

  6. saunabar Portsea

“This place attracts mainly adult men.
Its qualities represent only PAST time, and if only yesterday. Cleanliness etc are subject to the reliability of the staff and can deteriorate overnight. Rectifying dirt and poor service, take more time. I have met there, however, some of the best masseurs - professional, friendly, sweet. I myself am seventy yo and need a personal attention, which I sometimes get and sometimes not.“

  7. Afternoon vist Nov 2015

“I paid this sauna a visit on an afternoon in November. I have been in quite a few gay saunas all over Europe and this is one of the ones that I wouldn't ever visit again.
It was very clean and the staff pleasant but, it is way too small, only 3 private cabins. The steam room must be powered by an electric kettle although the dry sauna was good.
The clientele was the oldest I've ever seen at a sauna.
On the up side, I did meet a lovely local Black guy and we had a nice time.
I don't know how it is at the weekends but with only 3 private rooms and no glory-holes or a darkroom, I'll give it a miss. There are better, raunchier saunas in London.
One other thing put me off. All the floors are covered in hard, latticed, sharp rubber matting and it is so painful to walk on. So, if you decide to visit, take a pair of flip-flops.“
