With the closure of The Hoist, Backstreet is now London's only dedicated leather/rubber bar and, of the two, it was always the better: darker, sleazier, less S&M (stand and model) and much more action. Without the competition and with the new(ish) friendly staff, it's returning to its glory days. Two things make it a truly great club: it operates a very strict dress code (and quite rightly: it's a leather/rubber fetish club) but the staff are affable and helpful not sneering and dismissive if you haven't got it quite right. The second thing is the ban on mobile phones which means everybody concentrates on everybody else rather than their little technoworld. The punters are hot, handsome and attitude-free, exactly the way leathermen and rubber guys should be. The door and bar staff are amiable and approachable. The layout, the sense of anticipation, the atmosphere and the action make this one of the world's great fetish clubs. Truly. Thanks guys!

Update: entry fee is 8 pounds regardless the time of the day, that includes coat check and a welcome drink of one's choice. A can of beer is 4.10 GBP Closure of the Hoist definitely helped this place with a lot more fun going on since. :)
