This bar was recently awarded Blue Plaque status due to being the longest operating gay pub in the UK. Opened as The Hope and Anchor, it changed its name to The New Penny in 1982.

Nowadays, The New Penny retains a friendly clubby vibe and takes part in the annual pride celebrations. It has late opening hours which often means that it’s the last venue open.
