Awarded a Blue Plaque status for being the longest-operating gay bar in the UK. The New Penny was originally named "The Hope and Anchor" and later changed its name in 1982.

The bar retains a friendly clubby vibe and takes part in the annual LGBT Pride celebrations. Open late every night.

New penny Leeds.

I’d be very careful with this bar, there are a lot of strange people in there. I’ve had men trying to lure me out when drunk. Men will sit and watch you all night waiting for you. Everybody’s sniffing poppers. Drinks are vile and watered down.
