Palaces, Art Galleries, Museums, Street Markets, Parks, National Monuments… London has it all!

London is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and for a good reason.  There is a huge amount to see and experience. Here are just a few of the highlights we think you should try to squeeze into a trip to London:

Buckingham Palace

A working palace that is home to the British Royal Family. The Family move to Scotland during summer and the most of the Palace is open to the public including the impressive State Rooms. Buy tickets in advance online. Watch the changing of the Guards outside the Palace everyday at 11:30am.

London Eye

This 135-meter-tall observation wheel offers stunning ‘birds eye’ views of London. A fabulous 40-minute experience.

The Shard

Want to go even higher? Europe’s tallest building, The Shard, has two viewing platforms on floors 69 and 69 offering spectacular 360 degree views of the city. Advance ticket purchase essential during high season.

Sky Garden

Just across the River Thames from The Shard is The Sky Garden, at the top of a skyscraper known locally as the “Walkie Talkie” (due to its distinctive shape). Free entrance, but book online before visiting.

British Museum

Free entry to see a world-class set of exhibits from around the world.

The Tate Modern

Extraordinary collection of modern art located within what used to be a huge power station. Free entry.

National Gallery

One of the most important art collections in the world. The National Portrait Gallary (next door) is also excellent. Free entry to both.

Tower of London

Several hundred years ago, this was the place disloyal Queens had their heads chopped off! This UNESCO World Heritage castle is now London’s oldest complete building (dating from 1101). See the stunning collection of Crown Jewels, the Traitor’s Gate and the torture-device exhibition. Then walk across the iconic Tower Bridge – one of the London’s most famous landmarks.

Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens

Walk around these huge parks and gardens in right in the centre of the city. Visit the Diana Memorial Playground.

West End Theatres

London has some of very best theatres in the world attracting big name stars. Find out what is on at Ticketmaster and book your seats to see your favourite show well in advance. The most popular shows can be sold out months in advance.

Trafalgar Square, Nelsons Column, Whitehall and Parliament Square

Trafalgar Square is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. From the Square, walk through Whitehall to past Downing Street and on to Parliament Square and Big Ben. Visit the massive Westminster Abbey where William and Kate were married in 2011.

London’s Street Markets

Visit some of London’s famous street markets, including Portobello Road Market, Camden Market, Brick Lane Market and Old Spitalfields Market.

Our favourite is Borough Market, located next to London Bridge Station – excellent for lunch (Monday to Saturday)

The South Bank

Walk along the south bank of the River Thames from the London Eye to London Bridge. Amazing city views and great selection of restaurants. Lots of street artists at the weekends and all week during peak holiday seasons.
