Philadelphia Pride 2024: parade route, events and hotels

Philadelphia Pride kicks off with a parade starting at 13th and Locust streets and winding through the heart of the city's Gayborhood. Following the parade, the festivities continue at the Pride Festival, a bustling gathering that fills the streets around 13th and Locust. Philadelphia Pride has a long and storied history, deeply rooted in the city's role as a hub of early LGBTQ+ rights activism. One of the key historical milestones for Philadelphia Pride occurred on July 4, 1965, when activists held what is known as the first major LGBTQ+ rights demonstration in the U.S. at Independence Hall, later termed the "Annual Reminders." These demonstrations laid the groundwork for the first official Philadelphia Gay Pride Parade and Festival in June 1972.
